DON'T CALL IT JUST A FALL — PREVENT THE HAZARD BEFORE THE HARM

At EBC Level, our mission was strengthened by a deeply distressing family experience in May 2025, when our founder's older sister was hospitalised for approximately one week following severe headaches and neck problems, requiring medical investigations, reported brain CT scans and subsequent neck treatment and physiotherapy.

Although she explained that her admission involved neck pain, headaches and delays obtaining scans, questions remained for the family about the circumstances leading to her hospitalisation. This experience reinforced a powerful principle: a fall must never be dismissed without understanding its cause, and a preventable trip hazard must never be ignored until someone is seriously injured.

Whether protecting elderly parents, growing children or newlyweds who have promised to care for one another, safety is a responsibility that begins at home. Inspired by wider public awareness raised through the BBC's Fallen Women, presented by Stacey Dooley, and Womankind Worldwide's work on intimate partner violence, we believe unexplained injuries deserve appropriate medical attention and safeguarding consideration, without presuming that abuse or an accident occurred.

In parallel, physical hazards such as uneven paving, raised concrete, damaged steps and unsafe pathways should be identified, documented, risk-assessed and repaired before they result in avoidable harm.
